My Time at GotPhoto Summer Camp 2026 in Louisville ��

This June, I had the incredible opportunity to attend GotPhoto's Volume Photography Summer Camp 2026 in Louisville, Kentucky — and I'm still buzzing from everything I learned, everyone I met, and the inspiration I brought home with me.

For those who haven't heard of it, Summer Camp brings together hundreds of volume photographers from all over for several days of workshops, live shoots, and expert-led sessions — all focused on helping studios like Heart & Soul Photography grow smarter and serve clients better.

What I Took Away

Between sessions on pricing strategy, marketing, and scaling a small business, I walked away with so many practical tools I can't wait to put into action — everything from sharpening how we approach school and sports photography to fresh ideas for connecting with clients like you.

But honestly? My favorite part wasn't even the workshops — it was the people. Getting to talk shop with other photographers who deal with the exact same challenges and wins as I do (hello, wrangling 200 kids for picture day) made the whole trip feel less like a conference and more like a community.

Honestly, it's hard to put into words what this means to us. What started as a small photography business has grown into something we're incredibly proud of — and this award is a reflection of every single person who has been part of that journey.

This recognition doesn't happen on its own. It happens because of:

Every family who trusted us with their newborn, maternity, and family milestones

Every school and sports club who welcomed us in for picture day

Every business owner who let us capture their headshots and branding photos

None of this would be possible without this incredible community standing behind us.

What's Next:

Our Journey

One of the biggest milestones in our story was opening our Peace River studio.

At first, we operated out of our home, striving to meet local photography needs. Over time, we evolved into a thriving business that offers a wide range of services—while always staying true to our love for the communities of Northwestern Alberta.

Bringing Sports Photography to Life

At Heart & Soul Photography, we bring a fresh approach to sports photography in Northwestern Alberta. Using smoke effects, creative lighting, and professional backdrops, we aim to make every athlete feel special—whether they’re five years old or part of a team.

The mobile studio setup we bring with us, along with the creative techniques provide a fun and unique experience for both individuals and sports teams across the region.

Commitment to Learning

Our dedication to ongoing education has included things like traveling to Chicago to seek mentorship to help us grow or investing in new equipment and refining skills, we believe our growth directly benefits our clients.

Future Goals

We’re excited about the road ahead—especially our plan to make the studio space available for rentals which would give other photographers access to professional backdrops and equipment.

“Offering this [studio rental] is important to me because when I first started, I would have given anything to access backdrops and all the different equipment I have now.” -Amy

We hope to foster even more creativity in the local community by potentially offering photography lessons for kids in the future.

Capturing Memories Across Small-Town Alberta and Beyond

We’re proud to be part of Northwestern Alberta’s small-town communities surrounding the Peace River area, but it doesn’t stop there. We travel all across even to the bigger city centers like Edmonton, and Calgary.

Photographing the Grande Cache Rockies: A Minor Hockey League in Alberta

Photographing the Grande Cache Rockies Minor Hockey League was an amazing experience and we want to show (and tell) you all about it!

In under three hours, we worked with 116 players (U7 to U18) across six teams. Capturing this many age groups and players in such a short time is a testament to the planning, energy, and love for hockey that defines Heart & Soul Photography’s services.

It was a fast-paced day, but everyone’s teamwork and enthusiasm made it possible and smooth.

Behind the Scenes of the Grande Cache Rockies Minor Hockey Photoshoot

On the day of the shoot, everything came together smoothly.

You might think photographing so many players and teams would be chaotic (and you’ll not be wrong), but the organization and collaboration from coaches, parents, and players made it flow effortlessly. From setting up the perfect team shots to ensuring every player felt seen, it was a day filled with dedication and focus.

The Minor Hockey League Teams in the Photoshoot

Each team brought its personality to the session. From the youngest players to the seasoned U18s, every group showed their unique energy and love for the game.

U7 and U9 Teams

The youngest players were full of excitement and smiles which made every moment a fun one to capture. Their enthusiasm set the tone for the rest of the shoot.

U11 and U13 Teams

These players brought a mix of energy and focus. Watching their connection as teammates and their dedication to the sport made for some truly memorable photos.

U15 and U18 Teams

The older teams showcased their leadership and determination. It was incredible to see the maturity and drive these players have, both on and off the ice.
